Programmed DNA Elimination

Chromatin diminution or Programmed DNA Elimination is a rare phenomenon whereby specific cells undergo a reduction in chromosome content. The precise molecular mechanisms remain largely elusive. Our research group employs Caenorhabditis auriculariae and Strongyloides nematodes as experimental models to explore these mechanisms, with the ultimate goal of understanding the roles in evolution and developing innovative chromosome manipulation techniques.
